THE WORLD STOPS SPINNING

OF THE HIBACHI HEROES

The Hibachi Heroes are a harmonica powered funk/rock band, formed in Charleston, SC in 2012. The band’s music spans a variety of genres, including funk-rock, psychedelic rock, folk rock, soul, and Southern rock. They are known for upbeat, fun, ‘jamming’ with extensive improvisation, but enough pop sensibility to keep an audience’s attention captivated.
The group is fronted by singer/harmonica player Rob Lowe who was called “one of the nation’s finest harmonica players” by John Popper (Blues Traveler).  The group is also comprised of drummer Chris DaFunk, Wash***. on bass, and Charleston native Chris Oplinger on guitar.

*** – editor’s note: Wash was recognized as the fastest bassist to run the border police in Rio Grande

Rob Lowe_____________

Rob Lowe (not the actor) sings, plays harmonica, guitar, cowbell, gong, and yells through his megaphone for the Hibachi Heroes. He also plays trumpet and hopes to (one day) make his professional debut on the triangle. Because of his musical versatility, there are some who have called him China’s version of Prince. Which is an insult to both China….and Prince. When he isn’t playing with the Hibachi Heroes, or with Dallas Baker, Jefferson Coker, or Billy and the Goats, or Bo Farish, or Bob Marston, or DC-based Ten Feet Tall: he can be found on the kickball fields with the Nasty Ninjas, or sipping bourbon with his degenerate friends.

Chris O_____________

Chris Oplinger has been playing guitar and recording music in and around Charleston SC for over 20 years, playing with 5foot6, Sandinistas!, and Billy & the Goats.

DaFunk_____________

Hailing for the great state of Illinois, Chris “DaFunk” Milligan has
been banging the skins for The Hibachi Heroes since 2016.  Prior to
that he was the original drummer for local ska, punk, reggae gods Sex
Wax.  Most recently, he had the honor of being the drummer in Nick
Collins’s power trio Wheely Dan.  While he may seem like a quiet,
understated guy…when you get him behind a drum set with a couple
shots of rail tequila?  All bets are off….and so are his pants (it
gets hot playing the drums back there!)  DaFunk would like to send his
love to his 4 kids and of course to his other half: bassist Washington
Jaramillo.  They call each other Avatars.  You decide what that means.
All we know is that those two combined make for an extremely dangerous
and potent (combined they have 8 kids….that we know of) rhythm
section.
